Contact: LaserSpeed® non-contact gauge enables manufacturers to capture accurate, repeatable length and speed measurements of hot and cold steel and non-ferrous products Beta LaserMike, a leading global provider of precision measurement and control solutions, will exhibit the advantages of its LaserSpeed non-contact length and speed gauge at METEC 2011 (Hall 05, stand A29). This 8th International Metallurgical Technology Trade Fair will be held at the Düsseldorf Fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany from June 28 through July 2, 2011. The LaserSpeed gauge uses advanced, laser-based technology to precisely measure the length and speed of hot and cold steel and non-ferrous products without making contact. This laser gauge projects a unique pattern on the surface of the product. As the product moves, light is scattered back to the LaserSpeed gauge. This information is translated into product speed and pulses are produced to determine the product length. Length and speed measurements are captured with better than +0.05% accuracy. Since LaserSpeed uses no moving parts and is permanently calibrated, it is the ideal replacement for contact tachometers which are prone to measurement errors caused by slippage, dirt build-up, day-to-day wear, and extreme environmental conditions.
LaserSpeed works on all types of products, such as rod, bar, tube, pipe, slabs, cold/hold strip, and profile. Beta LaserMike offers a complete series of gauges including: Depending on the application, the LS8000 and LS9000 series gauges can be used as stand-alone solutions or packaged in E-, X- or C-version housings. These housings enable the gauges to be used in harsh dry or hot wet environments, or mounted inside the C-Frame of an x-ray gauge. Both units come equipped with an air wipe/quick change window and air purge system to keep the system clean and laser path clear for proper measurements and maximum uptime. A number of accessories are also available to meet specific operating and production requirements. |
