Beta LaserMike, a global manufacturer of precision measurement and control systems, has been providing accurate, non-contact length and speed measurement since 1984. A special focus has been placed on applications in the insulation industry for more than 4 years—improving product quality and profitability.

Manufactures of insulation materials, whether it is, fiberglass batt, mineral or stone wool, have a need to make very accurate length cuts. Using existing encoder technology it has been very difficult to achieve accurate and long lasting results. LaserSpeed works great in these applications because it is non-contact. Trying to measure an uneven surface, such as insulation, with contact methods is very difficult and at best not very accurate.

The LaserSpeed solves these issues because it is:

• Non-contact so there is no slippage
• Permanently calibrated which keeps the production line up and running longer
• Robust and works on any surface

LaserSpeed is also used in the post cut role as well to provide the manufacture with a quality inspection of each length.

The LaserSpeed® series of measurement gauges were designed to be drop in replacements for any type of mechanical encoder. They have proven to provide a typical return on investment of less than 2 months.
